THE CLASSIC VIDEO GAME SYSTEM OF THE 1980s
It's hard to recall sometimes just how much video games invaded popular culture back in the early eighties. Here's a reminder: the song "Pac-Man Fever" by Buckner & Garcia spent three months of 1982 on the pop charts, reaching the top ten. You heard it everywhere - on the radio, at the pizza parlor, and, of course, in the arcades.
Buckner & Garcia followed up their hit single with a whole album of songs based on the hit arcade games of the day - Frogger, Defender, Donkey Kong and more! Now that the classic games are making their comeback, it's only natural that the soundtrack for those days is coming back, too.
The original "Pac-Man Fever" album is now available on CD. It contains eight tributes to the arcade games of the early eighties, each including actual sound effects from the game itself!
Half the fun is hearing the Frogger theme at the beginning of "Froggy's Lament" or the metallic "Intruder alert!" that opens "Goin' Berzerk."
This CD is a must-have for anyone who ever spent one quarter too many trying to beat that top score! And, hey, if you want to throw an '80s-era theme party - this is the disc to spin!
