INTELLIVISION LIVES! UPGRADE
ONLY $9.99 - Limited Time

If you already own INTELLIVISION LIVES! Version 1.0, for a limited time you can upgrade to Version 1.1 for only $9.99. And we'll throw in the shipping and handling!

SHOULD I UPGRADE?
Depends on your system. The main difference is the emulation software for Windows - the software that actually enables you to play the classic games.

In Version 1.0, that software was DOS-based. Unfortunately, since 1998 when version 1.0 was released, more and more hardware has come out that does not work with DOS. A number of sound cards are difficult or impossible to configure for DOS-based games, and some models of newer computers, including many Sony Vaios, cannot play DOS-based games at all.

And then there's Windows itself. Win95 and 98 supported DOS-based software, Windows 2000 did not. When we heard XP was on the way and that it, too, wouldn't support DOS-based games, we knew it was time to upgrade INTELLIVISION LIVES!

We developed new Windows-native emulation software, which we included on INTELLIVISION ROCKS in November, 2001. Now, that software is the heart of the new INTELLIVISION LIVES! Version 1.1.

The advantages of Version 1.1 are:

  • Play on Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000 and XP!
  • Play on computers and sound cards that wouldn't play Version 1.0!
  • Use any DirectX-compatible hand controllers!

WHAT ABOUT US MAC USERS?
For the Mac, the emulation software on Version 1.1 is essentially the same as on Version 1.0. The main difference is that since Macs are more powerful now than in 1998, the default game screen is bigger (equal to the double-size option on Version 1.0).

While the software is not OS X-native, it runs fine on OS X in Classic Mode.

WHAT ELSE IS NEW IN V1.1?
The selection of games is the same, as is the multimedia presentation (the history, interviews, etc.). Overall, it's the original INTELLIVISION LIVES!, with a few minor fixes:

  • The game "Minotaur" now works.
  • Some game credits have been corrected.
  • A few broken hyperlinks have been fixed.

IS THE UPGRADE A DOWNLOAD OR A DISC?
The upgrade is a CD-ROM in jewel case - same as if you ordered the full-price INTELLIVISION LIVES! Version 1.1.
